About this lot:
CRISP. MODERN. REFINED.
This is a stunning showcase of what Ethiopian coffee can be today. The ‘washed anaerobic’ process unlocks a remarkably crisp profile that we absolutely love. It drinks like a beautifully complex floral tea, packed with vibrant notes of fresh apricot and deep cherry jam, all wrapped up in a smooth honey finish.
About origin:
Bette Buna is more than a coffee producer; it is the heartbeat of Taferi Kela in Ethiopia’s Sidamo region.
When Dawit and Hester were asked by their grandparents, Syoum and Emame, to take over the family farm, they inherited a much larger responsibility: to uplift their entire village. Despite sharing a mountain range with some of the most famous coffee-producing areas in the world, Taferi Kela had historically been overlooked by the industry, leaving the local economy struggling.
Today, Bette Buna is rewriting that narrative. In a country where coffee drives the economy but leaves many farmers without a livable income, Dawit and Hester are building a sustainable, equitable model. They are teaching regenerative agro-forestry, distributing hundreds of thousands of seedlings, and championing an unprecedented level of supply chain transparency.
