About the origin:

“Las Perlitas,” meaning “Little Pearls,” is a beautiful celebration of Huila’s most dedicated smallholder farmers. Throughout the Colombian harvest season, it is incredibly common for passionate producers to cultivate coffees of breathtaking quality—true gems that are simply too small in volume to be exported on their own. Historically, these tiny micro-lots would get swallowed up and lost in bulk commercial blends. This project was designed to rescue them.

​By combining these tiny, high-scoring lots from farmers like Edier Perdomo, Jhon Esneider Ordoñez, and Anayibe Ortiz, an export-sized batch of spectacular quality is born. Grown high in the mountains at elevations ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 meters above sea level, this specific lot focuses entirely on the prized Pink Bourbon varietal. It is a coffee that represents a collective commitment to excellence, proving that a community united can rival the finest single estates in the world.

• ​Discovering Hidden Gems: Smallholders often lack the land size to produce large volumes, but their meticulous, hands-on care yields exceptional quality. This project actively seeks out these tiny lots to ensure their hard work reaches the specialty market.
• ​Strict Evaluation: At the regional stations, every individual small lot is rigorously cupped and evaluated. To make the cut and become a “Pearl,” the coffee must meet strict physical standards and score an absolute minimum of 85 points (with these specific lots scoring 86 and above).
• ​Showcasing Terroir: By isolating the rare and complex Pink Bourbon varietal across these specific farms, this lot acts as a perfect magnifying glass for Huila’s incredible high-altitude terroir.
