About this lot:
This is a coffee you’ll smell before you even taste it.
It’s a shining example of a complex ‘washed’ Kenyan, balancing that signature vibrant acidity with a deep, structured sweetness. It weaves a zesty orange note and rich plum flavor through a beautiful, delicate background of Jasmine and violet.
If you’ve ever asked “What makes Kenyan coffee so special?”- this cup is the answer.
About origin:
From the heart of Kenya’s most celebrated coffee region, Nyeri, comes this exceptional lot from the Gatugi washing station. This station is a story of community and legacy, having served local producers as part of the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society since 1979.
This cooperative model means the station is owned by the very farmers who use it. On small, one-hectare farms, these producers cultivate the classic, high-quality SL 28, SL 34, and Ruiru 11 varietals in rich volcanic soil at altitudes reaching 1,720 meters. The cooperative, in turn, supports them with agricultural training and resources to ensure the highest quality.
At the station, every batch is in expert hands. After farmers meticulously handpick and deliver their perfectly ripe red cherries, station manager James Nderitu and his team take over. They apply their decades of expertise to the washing process, skillfully crafting the clean, complex, and vibrant cup profile that has made the Nyeri region legendary in the coffee world.
