The history of the Daterra farm comes from an Italian family that embarked on an adventure to build a new life in Brazil. The family’s entrepreneurial heart led them to invest in several businesses, including coffee growing.

Little by little, the Daterra project was consolidated and the dream of reinventing coffee growing and producing sustainable coffees became tangible. Farm Daterra was designed to produce specialty coffee, based on environmental preservation and social development. They first started growing coffee on the farm in the Mogiana region, which was previously used to produce milk, but they realized that the area of Patrocínio, in Cerrado Mineiro, was an exceptional region for the cultivation of coffee, as it had high altitude terroirs. that they could provide unique flavors and aromatic profiles and that the desert climate was actually an advantage because it allowed for quality control during the growing season. It was then that they settled in Cerrado Mineiro, acquiring the Boa Vista and Tabuoes farms that today form Daterra. It took 10 years for the Daterra farm to get the area good enough to produce good quality coffee and start exporting.

The learning experience throughout these años made it possible for Daterra to be the first Rainforest Alliance and ISO 14001 certified coffee farm in Brazil, later UTZ Kapeh was added and for a small organic part of our farm, IBD Organic. For Daterra the relationship with the soil, water, workers, the community and everything around us, is as important as its relationship with quality and with its customers around the world. Team Daterra Coffee is proud of its achievements and progress, look to the future knowing that we have very serious challenges to face, it is not enough to mitigate the years caused by agricultural practices, its goal is to continuously research and innovate, relying on science, technology and passion to protect and improve the world’s second most important hotspot, the Cerrado Biome.
